Transcript of Dr. Wu's Video

I am Dr. Wen-hsien Wu specializing in anesthesiology and pain medicine.  I developed the first pain center at the New Jersey Medical School in 1981.  Now I am helping to launch the Chinese website on this syndrome.

This syndrome is peculiar in a sense that there is no pathology clear.  It is a form of neuropathic pain including the syndromes of the following: Persistent burning pain beyond tissue healing; motor disturbance; regional pallor; lack of circulation; temperature and colour change; and dystrophic changes of muscle, bone and the skin.  Associated with these will be deformity such as contracture and it is also associated with psychological disorders such as insomnia and depression.  The literature in Chinese on the syndrome is scanty.  That is the purpose of the launch of this website.

Now I would like to take a few minutes to introduce the Manager of the Chinese website, Dr. Shen-ping Zou.  Dr. Zou is graduated from Hunan University Medical School in 1986 and then migrated to the United States for further studies.  In 1998, he completed the residency program in anesthesiology at the New Jersey Medical School, followed by a year of pain medicine fellowship under my direction.  In 1999, he became faculty of NYU Medical School and currently he is the Director of the Pain Management Center at the NYU Bellevue Hospital.  He returns to China every year to teach and demonstrate in the field of anesthesiology and pain medicine.  His contribution to the rapid development of pain medicine in China is considerable.
